济南是中国重要的工业城市，在“工业立市”政策的指导下，已经初步形成了门类齐全、结构完整的工业体系。其中冶金、机械、轻纺、化工、电子、建材、医药、食品等行业在全国具有举足轻重的地位。全市现有规模以上工业企业1125余家。主要产品有重型汽车、机床、大型压力机、实验机、洗衣机、电视机、电子衡器等4000余种。

济南市重视科技在发展工业经济中的作用，坚持用高新技术改造传统产业，开发科技含量高、附加值高的新产品。目前，济南已与全国26所重点大专院校和科研院所建立了长期合作关系，建成6个国家级技术中心。高新技术产业成为带动工业增长的龙头。2002年，济南市规模以上工业企业实现增加值318.6亿元，利税额92.7亿元。其中，重工业完成增加值216.3亿元，轻工业完成102.3亿元。高新技术产业迅速成长，全年完成固定资产投资19.6亿元，增长59.7%。济南高新技术产业开发区已建起了留学人员创业园、齐鲁软件园、大学科技园、齐鲁软件学院以及环保科技园、出口加工区、中乌科技合作园、齐鲁纳米港等园区，初步形成了一区多园的发展格局。

济南市有乡村人口357.8万人，耕地总资源356.8千公顷。济南市重视发展农业和农村经济。2002年，蔬菜总产量633.7万吨，奶类总产量10.1万吨，禽蛋总产量45.1万吨，肉类总产量35.3万吨。其中明水香稻、龙山小米、章丘大葱、北园白莲藕、泰山小白梨、大货山楂、历城红玉杏、黄河鲤鱼、平阴玫瑰等以其品优质良而驰名中外，不仅占据了国内市场，而且远销日本、韩国、俄罗斯及香港、澳门特别行政区。

济南市农村经济全面发展，大力实施科技兴农战略。在2002年“全国农业博览会”上，佳宝乳制品、鲁青西瓜、无核葡萄、淡水石斑鱼等产品倍受青睐。济南市农业高新技术开发区已经建成由1.5万亩核心区、济南市农业信息中心和药乡国家森林公园组成的农业科技园区体系。

Jinan has a rural population of 3.578 million and 356.8 kilohectares of arable land. Jinan has attached much importance to the development of both agriculture and rural economy. In 2002, the city’s rural sector produced 6.337 million tons of vegetables, 101,000 tons of dairy products, 451,000 tons of eggs and 353,000 tons of meat. The rice of Mingshui, millet of Longshan, Chinese green onions of Zhangqiu, lotus root of Beiyuan, white pears of Taishan, haws of Dahuo, apricot of Licheng , carps of the Yellow River, roses of Pingyin are now being exported to Japan, Korea, Russia, Hong Kong, Macao and many other countries and regions, thus gaining international acclaim.

Science and technology has played a key role in the all-round development of the rural economy of Jinan. At the “National Agriculture Expo” held in 2002, the dairy products of Jiabao, watermelons of Luqing, seedless grapes, freshwater fish were welcomed with great interest. 15,000 mu of core areas, agricultural information center and Yaoxiang National Forest Park have been established in Jinan Agricultural High-Tech Development Area.

The ever-expanding architecture industry has made outstanding contributions to economic development of Jinan. In 2002, this industry yielded 9.8 billion yuan in added value, 10% more than in 2001. It is now a pillar of the city's industrial establishment. Of those construction companies based in Jinan, 616 are rated as of the fifth grade.

2002年济南市地域财政收入234.6亿元，其中，一般预算内地方财政收入66.25亿元。全市社会消费品总额达到446.5亿元，各行业零售额全面增长，批发零售贸易额293.6亿元，餐饮零售额61.3亿元，其他行业零售额91.6亿元。

济南市是中国九大金融区之一，金融机构门类齐全，运营良好。到2002年底，全市各类银行金融机构存款余额2017.2亿元，比年初增长27%，全市贷款余额2088亿元，增长26.8%。保险业持续发展，全民保险意识进一步增强。2002年，人寿险和财产险公司双双获得丰收，全年完成保险业务收入21.1亿元，比上年增长26.1 %。

经济建设——旅游业


　　济南自然风光秀丽。城内72名泉争涌。尤以趵突泉、黑虎泉、五龙潭、珍珠泉四大泉群久负盛名，自古享有“家家泉水，户户垂杨”之誉。众泉汇流成的大明湖与南面的千佛山构成了“一城山色半城湖”的独特风光。中国最早的单层石塔四门塔、比“万里长城”还要古老的齐长城、中国三大古文化之一的“龙山文化”遗址以及洛庄汉墓、灵岩寺、红叶谷、五峰山、莲台山、卧龙峪风景区等等，每年都吸引着大批游客。全市拥有索菲特银座大饭店、舜耕山庄、东方大厦等涉外星级宾馆30余家，旅行社19家，开辟了通达全国各地的旅游线路，开展了修学、美食、保健、宗教、民谷俗、书法等诸多专项旅游业务，其中"一山（泰山）一水（济南）一圣人（孔子）"已成为国家级旅游热线。2002年，全市共接待国内外旅游人数1022.7万人次，比上年增长21.0%。旅游总收入78.7亿元，比上年增长28.4%。目前，济南市有5家景区获国家A级景区称号。

Jinan is endowed with abundant tourist resources. She possesses as many as 72 springs with the Baotu spring, Black Tiger Spring, Five-Dragon Pond and Pearl Spring as the most famous. Spring water and willows can be found everywhere in the city. The Daming Lake and the Thousand-Buddha Mountain gives the city a special geographical feature, which is a mixture of mountains, springs, lakes, and rivers. Thus, she has gained the good name "the Spring City," Simen Pagoda, the earliest unlined stone tower in China; the Great Wall of the Qi Dynasty, which is even older than the Great Wall itself; the relics of Longshan civilization, one of the three oldest civilizations of China; the Han Dynasty King Mausoleum at Luozhuang as well as the Lingyan Temple, Red Leaves Valley, Wufeng Mountain, Liantai Mountain, Wolong Islet, attract a great number of tourists every year. There are more than 30 well-appointed hotels and 19 travel agencies. The courses extend in all directions covering food, health care, religion, custom, calligraphy and so on. The itinerary of “One Mountain ( Mount Tai), One River ( the Yellow River) and One Sage ( Confucius) has become a hotline at the state level. In 2002, Jinan welcomed 10.227 million tourists from home and abroad, an increase of 21% over the previous year. The total income derived from tourism was 7.87 billion yuan, an increase of 28.4%. So far, 5 beauty spots in Jinan are awarded as the Level A of China.

Recently, Jiuding Temple National Park, Jinxiuchuan Amusement Park, Weishan Mountain, Zhujiayu Folk Custom Village and the nice sights along the Yellow River have been established on the outskirts of the city which will make Jinan more attractive.

济南商业、餐饮业蓬勃发展，全市商品交易市场总数达713处，其中城市市场229处，农村市场484处，市场成交额达553.6亿元，社会消费品零售总额446.5亿元。同时，以连锁商业为重点的现代经营形式和营销方式迅速崛起，2002年底，全市共建连锁公司27家，连锁超市、便利店820多家，经营面积达10多万平方米，成为商业流通业最具成长性的业态形式。中部泉城路“金街”及周边地区包括三联、贵和、百大等大卖场；联华、大润发、新一佳、济南华联等环布在城市四周，形成了济南市的商业格局。

济南的餐饮业历来兴盛，鲁菜最为流行，但其他菜系的餐馆也随处可见。小巷深处的传统名吃与风格独特的精美西餐相映成趣，成为济南餐饮业的又一道亮丽风景线。

Commerce and dining establishments thrive vigorously in Jinan. There are 713 huge markets in the city with 229 in the urban area and 484 in the countryside. The turnover of marketing exchanges totaled 55.36 billion yuan, while the retail sales of consumables reached 44.65 billion yuan. By the end of 2002, there are 27 chain corporations, more than 820 chain supermarkets and convenience shops, all of which covere an area of over 100,000 square meters, thus becoming the most rapidly growing form of commercial industry in the city. The Quancheng Road which is also called the “Golden Road” in the central area of the city, together with neighboring big markets, is becoming more and more prosperous. 

The food in Jinan is extremely delicious. While our own Shandong cuisine is the most popular here, a great variety of other cooking styles are also mushrooming. Traditional local snacks and exquisite western-style dishes can meet different expectations.

济南已形成了全方位、多层次、宽领域的对外开放格局。2002年新签利用外资合同133个，合同利用外资 5.06亿美元，增长11.9%。实际利用外资5.42亿美元，增长27.4%。对外经济技术合作取得新进展。2002年，全市共签定对外承包和劳务合作合同金额6000万美元，比上年增长78%；完成营业额9000万美元，比上年增长211%。来济南市投资的世界500强企业已经达到13家。日本、韩国、美国、东南亚、欧盟成为济南市的主要贸易伙伴。

Jinan has established a multi-leveled development pattern of opening to the outside world in an all-round way. In 2002, 133 contracts involving foreign investment were signed, totaling 506 million US dollars, up 11.9% . The investment in use is 542 million US dollars, up 27.4%. Great progress has been made in foreign economic cooperation. In 2002, the sum of foreign work contract and labor service cooperation is 60 million US dollars, up 78% over the previous year; the turnover is 90 million US dollars, up 211% . 13 of the 500 most powerful enterprises in the world have invested in Jinan. Japan, Korea, the United States, Southeast Asia and the European Union are the major trading partners of Jinan.
